Visit with the curator to the exhibition "Sea of identities"
Special visits
Visit with the curator curador João Pedro Vieira to the exhibition "Sea of identities".
With 58 Greek, Carthaginian and Roman coins on display, this exhibition takes us on a numismatic journey through Greece from the 6th to the 1st centuries BCE. It tells the history and culture of the Greek world, focusing on the Central Mediterranean.
Throughout the galley, one discovers some of the highlights of the Greek numismatics collection of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, recognized as one of the most important private collections of Greek coins in the world. Even though they are true numismatic works of art, despite their rarity, technical and aesthetic quality, these pieces have rarely been exhibited to the public before.
