Lisbon earthquake: four visions of the city, 260 years later

This talk is an invitation to share points of view on the cataclysm of 1755, regarding it both as a historical referent and a transformative agent of society and the city of Lisbon in the 18th century. This seminar also aims to reflect on the repercussions of the earthquake in the present; the changes brought about in the city's urban, architectural, and socio-political fabric; and how the capital remembers and interprets the event, and acts proactively to defend itself.
