Polyphonia is the oldest permanent choir in Portugal, and celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2017

Polyphonia is the oldest permanent choir in Portugal, and celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2017. Its repertoire includes over 600 pieces.

Polyphonia is owed a debt of gratitude due to having recovered the major works of the great 16th, 17th and 18th century Portuguese polyphonists, publishing them on paper as well as on disk.

The concert will be interspersed with commentary by Rui Vieira Nery on Portuguese polyphonic music in the 16th to 18th centuries, exemplifying the various historic periods and which illustrate the repertoire of Polyphonia Schola Cantorum.

Sérgio Fontão | choirmaster
