Which coins were used by the Portuguese merchants? What did they buy? What knowledge did they bring home? Was gold their greatest treasure?

Young merchants visit the museum inspired by the trading routes that were used from the 13th to the 17th century.  From port to port, they travel by sea and ocean in toy ships, looking for new products, and exotic goods!

Which coins were used by the Portuguese merchants? Dinheiros, ceitil coins, doubloons,... how did they negotiate in the East? What did they buy? How did they communicate? What knowledge did they bring home? Was gold their greatest treasure?
