To tell us more about carnival we invited a careto, a god, a king, a queen, a princess and a pirate!
Have you ever wondered how people started celebrating carnival? Is it an ancient celebration? Why do people call it by so many different names? Did you know that in the time of King Dinis colourfully masked revellers, the caretos, played pranks on people and caused mischief?
We invited a careto, a god, a king, a queen, a princess and a pirate to comment on carnival celebrations.
Inspired by their tales and by the Museum’s collection of coins and banknotes we will make a mask using cutting, collage, drawing and painting techniques.
