Caretas e Caretos (only in Portuguese)

Free admission

Carnival is coming and even at home we can celebrate! It is time to make a mask different from the ones we have been using against the coronavirus. It's a mask to have fun!

If you have already asked yourself what is the origin of Carnival, come aboard and discover the time of King Dinis and the fairs and markets of northern Portugal, where colorful revelers played tricks. They were called Caretos, and they are very old figures, full of joy, that crossed centuries to the present day. And they even have a coin with their masks, that you can even go shopping with!

Based on the book "Caretos e Coretos", we challenge you to make a mask inspired by the Portuguese tradition and the coins of the Money Museum
