Cycle "Views of Architecture" - Le Siècle de Le Corbusier

In this cycle, architecture is as much of a star as the men and women who designed, defended and transported it to the big screen. There are visions – some utopian, some dystopian, others very real – which express the eternal debates underlying the practice of architecture and safeguarding heritage: modern vs old; dream vs reality; public vs private.

Architect and urban planner, Le Corbusier (1887-1965) revolutionised the idea of living and imposed a modern conception on collective living. What is more, he brought an aesthetic to the world and dreamt of another society. The film opens between interviews and texts by Le Corbusier, establishes a dialogue between the man and his time, the century of world wars, ideologies and totalitarianisms. It portrays the work of the Swiss-born French architect from his first construction in 1905, the Villa Fallet (Switzerland) to his various projects in Chandigarh, India in 1953.
