Cinema at the Museum: We have already embarked III

É na Terra Não É na Lua ('It's the Earth Not the Moon'), Gonçalo Tocha, Documentary, Portugal, 2011 (180 min.)
Corvo is the smallest island in the Azores archipelago. It is in the western Azores, north of the island of Flores. It has a surface area of 17.13 km², measuring 6.5 km by 4 km. It is formed of a single extinct volcano, Monte Gordo, topped by a broad crater, 3.7 km around and 300 metres deep, containing the Lagoa do Caldeirão lake. It has a single town inhabited by 450 people, one street, a town hall, a plane three times a week, a health centre, a kindergarten, a school, a church, a restaurant...
In 2007, a cameraman and a sound technician come to the island to film everything happening there. Gradually, they become treated as family by the islanders, and with them, tell their history and their stories.
The second feature film by Gonçalo Tocha after 'Balaou' in 2007, is a documentary/diary/film essay, which won DocLisboa 2011, and the City of Lisbon Award for best feature-length or medium-length film.
