Acessible visits - King Dinis’ Wall

Free admission

Stones, objects, ceramic fragments, bones and sounds recreate medieval imagery: they are the legacy that we want to share in this accessible tour to the block’s subterranean zone.

King Dinis’ Wall signals the city that we no longer know.
700 years ago, this huge defensive wall protected against the pirates who made incursions into Tagus beaches, in Lixbona.
In the Museum, you can still hear seagulls, markets and ships, recalling the commercial and seafaring tradition of the city, and the voice of King Dinis, who witnessed memorable episodes still etched into the surface of the wall, which has been listed as a national monument.
Stones, objects, ceramic fragments, bones and sounds recreate medieval imagery: they are the legacy that we want to share in this accessible tour to the block’s subterranean zone.
