Free admission

Under the theme that unites various components of this season – time and death – the museum debates the core content of the exhibition and the recent discoveries from the S. Julião cemetery.

The 19th century: a unit of time around which we trace the arc of the lives and deaths of certain individuals, in Lisbon.  Under the theme that unites various components of this season – time and death – the museum debates the core content of the exhibition and the recent discoveries from the S. Julião cemetery.
Spiritual beliefs, the lives lived in the city of Lisbon, the demography and social differences, public health and the great epidemics, the scientific value and the contribution of archaeology and physical anthropology to our understanding of the past and the present help us understand the impact made by the transition of the funeral rites and grave locations (from the church to the cemetery) on the spiritual, social and civil ideologies of the era.

Speakers | Artur Rocha, Fátima Almeida, Teresa Rodrigues e João Neto
