Canto Ondo - My heart is Arabic

Free admission

Canto Ondo

An adapted concert giving musical context to the Money Museum's Islamic numismatic archive and thus combining the rhythm and poetry of the Middle East with our Portuguese culture.

Inspired by the sinuous lines of Islamic art, a guitarist, a percussionist and two female voices sing an undulating song to the beat of an Arabic heart, taking listeners on a journey in sound, music and poetry. Levantine drums and a guitar tracing its origins to the laúd of Ziryab give colour to this tour of our common heritage, singing the poetry of Portuguese Al Andalus and other Mediterranean songs.
